Ride & Roll Cycling Studio, located next to the Charleston Pour House on Maybank Hwy, isn’t just another fitness studio. The second you walk through the front door of this vibrant 70’s-inspired space, you get this feeling that you’re right where you’re supposed to be – you feel right at home. One class and you’ll see it’s not just another workout: it’s a full body experience, not meaning just for your legs, arms, abs, booty, etc.. “Full body” meaning your whole body, heart, mind and soul. Having just celebrated their first year of being in business, it’s no wonder that this little 1800 square foot studio equipped with 35 indoor cycling bikes is so quickly becoming one of the most beloved fitness studios in the Charleston area, as they consistently deliver a soulful fitness experience with a strong sense of community right in the heart of James Island – and this is all thanks to the women behind it.
The Ride & Roll owners, Chase Martin and Kylie Bissell are no strangers to the spotlight. Chase spent most of her adult life living in Nashville, TN, where she was signed to an exclusive recording contract with Sony Music Entertainment. Through this, she toured with many A-list country artists and got to perform at some of the most prolific venues across the US. Chase found her love for indoor cycling during her time in the entertainment industry, as it was something that pushed her limits physically, while simultaneously providing a sense of support, stability and stress release that could otherwise be difficult to come by in her then occupation. As she continued to dive deeper into the overall health and wellness community, it didn’t take Chase long to realize that she had a new life’s mission: to help others feel the same impact that this platform had on her.
Kylie is a firm believer that everything happens for a reason! A free-loving spirit with a passion for animal/environmental conservation and health/fitness. Kylie spent her college career at UH Manoa Hawaii, where she pursued her dream of working with marine mammals, eventually accepting a training job at SeaWorld San Antonio TX, working with Beluga Whales and Pacific White-Sided Dolphins. A very physically and mentally demanding profession, she found her love for spin, as spin class was her mental release that also kept her in shape physically so that she was able to perform at SeaWorld. Educating the community has always been her passion, whether it’s about the incredible animals we share this planet with, or about the importance of taking care of your mind and body.
Chase & Kylie share the stage with a truly one-of-a-kind group of instructors that continue to add to the specialness of this community. Each individual instructor takes the Ride & Roll method and makes it their own, all bringing their own unique SPIN to the community – though, you can rest assured that one thing remains constant: any class you sign up for will deliver a fun, upbeat, high intensity workout that is suitable for anyone and everyone. That’s right – any background, any fitness level, any indoor cycling experience. Spin class aficionado? Look no further. Brand new to indoor cycling? You will welcomed with open arms and instructed on how to get set up on your bike, as well as how to make the most out of every class – you’ll be a cycling pro in no time! Each time you clip-in, you feel the connection, vulnerability, and empowerment. Pedal stroke by pedal stroke, you will exercise your strength (both physical and mental), commitment and conscientiousness. Once class begins, the lights get low, the energy gets high, and that’s when it hits you: although you may have walked into Ride & Roll Cycling Studio looking for a challenging workout (which they live up to every time), you will walk out having found so much more.
