Getting An Inside Look At Your Child’s Nervous System
At Lighthouse Family Chiropractic, we never guess with your family’s health care. This is why we utilize the CLA INSiGHT scans to get to the root cause of your child’s challenges.
At Lighthouse Family Chiropractic, we never guess with your family’s health care. This is why we utilize the CLA INSiGHT scans to get to the root cause of your child’s challenges. Keep reading to learn more about this cutting edge technology and how it can explain why your child is struggling and help us get to the root cause.
While traditional medicine primarily focuses on symptoms and searches for clear signs of pathology through standard tests such as blood work, MRIs, and EEGs, we take a different approach. The CLA INSiGHT scans give us an inside look at how the nervous system is functioning and are about finding, tracking and understanding if subluxation (stress) and dysautonomia are present. If these are present we need to know two things:
- How much or how severe is it?
- Where within the nervous system is it located?
When there is tension and stress stuck in a specific area of the nervous system, it helps us understand why the individual is experiencing certain symptoms and conditions. On the flip side, using these scans as a wellness checkup before any symptoms arise helps us predict and get ahead of any future trouble that could arise. There are 3 separate scans that we run in our office, and when paired together, they tell the story of what you or your child may be experiencing.
This scan can be done on everyone from newborn infants to mom and dad and everyone in between! It is the quickest scan and rolls up the practice member’s back, taking temperatures and comparing from side to side as well as from bottom to top of the neurospinal system. The main thing that this scan helps us find is the regional effects of subluxation and dysautonomia. Since the primary functions of the autonomic nervous system are to coordinate and regulate the functions of the digestive system, immune system, hormones, etc., this scan is the best for our practice members who are struggling with things like colic, reflux, constipation, chronic ear infections, allergies, adrenal dysfunction and sleep challenges. Below is an example of this scan for a person struggling with colic.
The main things we are looking for in this scan are:
- Colored bars (green, blue or red) that indicates the tension + sympathetic dominance part of subluxation
- A lot of back and forth or clusters that indicate dysautonomia and tension throughout the neurospinal system
- The DTG bars (not pictured) that indicate whether the subluxation and condition is more chronic or acute in nature
We always explain each scan in detail and relate it to the challenges that your child is facing with our NeuroFuse Box Poster. Our doctor team is highly trained in the interpretation of these scans and makes sure that you leave understanding them as well.
This scan is crucial for our Perfect Storm kids and is the most important test used for conditions like autism, sensory processing disorders, ADHD and anxiety. The reason for this is because all of those conditions are based on stuck tension, altered tone and exhaustion of the neuromuscular system. It is directly correlated and measuring the “tone” or energy output of the neuromuscular system. Neurological and muscle tone challenges are significant because motor function and development are closely linked to brain function and development. This means that if the EMG scan identifies patterns of persistent tension and imbalance, it is highly likely that the brain is stuck in a sympathetic (fight or flight) state and is also experiencing difficulties with balancing its core functions, such as regulating emotions, behavior, learning, and memory. This scan is typically performed on kids after the age of 3, when they are weight bearing and their neuromuscular system is more developed. There are 3 scores that you will see on this scan:
- Total Energy: This is the total amount of energy that the neuromuscular system is using to hold itself up against gravity. In children who are wound up and stuck in fight or flight, this number is very high. On the contrary, in exhausted adults or teenagers, we’ll see this number go very low.
- Pattern: This is important when looking at overall neurological tone. When we see this number on the lower end, it typically indicates a child who’s struggling with emotional regulation, focus + concentration, posture and a weak core.
- Symmetry: This score is based on the balance between the left and right sides of the system. This is important because an imbalanced neurospinal system ultimately means there is an imbalance in brain function + coordination
This scan gives us the larger picture or a birds eye view of a practice member’s neurological health. It tells us whether the autonomic nervous system is balanced and fully charged or if its stressed out, imbalanced and exhausted. There are 2 different axis’s that we look at in this scan:
- Shifted Left or Right
- Left: Indicates that the person is stuck in sympathetic fight-or-flight mode or has an exhausted parasympathetic rest-and-digest system.
- Right: Indicates that the person has an exhausted sympathetic system, most typically the result of being stuck in fight-or-flight for so long
- Shifted High or Low
- Low: Indicates the person has lower adaptability and energy
- High: Indicates the person has high adaptability and energy
This scan is the most helpful for practice members struggling with mental and emotional disorders, sleep, energy and an overall feeling of “wound up and worn out.”
At your Day 2 report of findings visit, we will explain each scan individually, as well as correlate them together to help you understand the full picture of what’s going on in your child’s nervous system. We pride ourselves on making sure parents leave our office with less questions and more answers than they came in with! If you do have any questions about our scans, please send us a message or give us a call at (854) 354-8989. We’d love to connect with you!
