ALTR Performance + Physical Therapy

Dr. Andrew Bagley

PT, DPT, ATC

Owner, Physical Therapist

Born and raised in Mount Pleasant, Andrew was an avid swimmer for multiple teams in the area. Throughout his swimming career, Andrew became a 4x AAAA State Champion with Wando High School’s Swim Team, as well as a multiple record holder for both Snee Farm Swim Team and the Coastal Carolina Aquatics Association. Some of these records still stand today!

A result of his 20+ hours per week in the pool for nearly a decade, Andrew ended up requiring rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders by age 15. This process is what introduced Andrew to physical therapy.

During his undergraduate education at UNC - Chapel Hill, Andrew joined the athletic training program, where he worked for multiple NCAA Division I athletic programs, including two fall seasons of football and one season each of men’s soccer and women’s lacrosse. Upon graduation, Andrew landed a position as an athletic trainer at NC State University, where he would primarily cover NC State’s volleyball, swimming & diving, and gymnastics programs. As a part of the athletic training staff at NC State, Andrew gained experience with a variety of other sports, including golf, tennis, baseball, and competitive cheerleading.

While pursuing his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Duke University’s School of Medicine, Andrew also worked as an athletic trainer for Duke’s various Club Sports teams, providing both on-field game coverage and weekly injury clinics for those injured at practice.

Upon graduation from Duke, Andrew and his wife, Ali, moved back to Charleston, where he worked for a national-chain orthopedic physical therapy clinic. Here, he learned everything wrong with the physical therapy experience that most people receive and made it his mission to show his hometown what physical therapy could be. From these experiences, ALTR Performance & Physical Therapy began.

Andrew is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS), meaning he has undergone extensive training to better understand how to get you out of pain. This is a certification that fewer than 10% of active physical therapists in the US have achieved. He also is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) and NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). His background makes him the perfect fit for anyone who likes to stay active while getting out of pain.
